Our products are made with a lot of love and care, we made a list with some tips to get the most out of your bikini. Use these swimwear care tips to protect your swimwear and keep it looking and feeling great for as long as possible. As our fabric is mainly made of recycled plastic, it has the capability the release tiny micro-fibresinto the water system when washed. To combat this issue we recommend the GuppyFriend bag. Simply wash any synthetic fabrics in the bag, capture the micro-plastics and empty them into your bin to stop them from entering the water system. Please follow our wash & care instructions in the tag inside our pieces in order to make your swimwear last for years.
1. Make sure to rinse off your bikinis after going for a splash in saltwateror chlorinated pools: this is key to maintaining your beloved bikinis in perfect condition.
2. Avoid contact with harsh abrasive surfaces
3. Don't put swimwear on with wet sunscreen/suntan lotions. These products may mark and damage swimwear
4. Don't wear in pool/spas treated with harsh chemicals
5. Don't iron, wring, soak or bleach swimwear
6. Always follow the instructions on the care labels. These recommendations on labels give the instructions for the exact fabric, although we do recommend washing all your swimwear by hand, with cold or lukewarm water.
What we like most about linen are its sustainability, durability and strength but in order to keep it that way it’s important to know how to take care of it.
To ensure correct treatment please refer to individual care labels on each product. We highly recommend to wash your garment with lower temperature water and not using hot heat dryer to avoid any shrinking and prolonging your garment's life. After washing your linen, the best way to dry it is in the open air. Hang items from a clothesline or lay them flat to dry.
Clothes with prints should be turned inside out before washing to keep the print looking good.
SIMPLE STEPS TOWARDS MORE SUSTAINABLE WASHING
Through small, simple gestures, we can reduce our carbon footprint and make a big difference to the environment.
Did you know that increasing the life cycle of your garments is the most direct way you can reduce waste and pollution in the textiles system? In fact, the clothing industry alone could impact the amount of carbon, water andwaste used by as much as 10% if garments stayed in rotation in our wardrobes for just three months longer than normal. The best part? This means that we as consumers have the absolute power to effect positive change for our planet. Here are a few ways to make your laundry routine a little bit greener:
SPOT OR HAND WASH
Start by asking yourself if the clothes really need washing. In many cases it is enough to simply treat the stain area, or hang the garment out to air. Save water and increase the lifespan of your garments by spot-washing using mild, eco-friendly detergent (try vinegar for whites) or hand wash. This is also a great way of ensuring synthetic microfibres don't enter our oceans.
If the garment is only lightly soiled, wash at a lower temperature. Remember that the temperature given in the care instructions is the highest temperature the garment can withstand.
Air-dry or hang dry your laundry instead of using a tumble dryer. It's the best way to save on energy (good for the environment and your wallet!) and also helps keep your clothing in the best shape! Clothes last longer when you line dry because there's less wear and tear than when you use the dryer.
To avoid having to iron your laundry, remove the clothes from the washing machine quickly, give them a shake and hang them up on a drying rack to reduce wrinkles and creases. Hanging your garments vertically can encourage your clothing to dry without creasing.
DITCH THE DRY CLEANING
Avoid dry cleaning where possible. Most dry cleaning methods have a harmful effect on the environment.
REPAIR & UP-CYCLE OR SWAP
We all know that fashion contributes to the waste problem. You can have a major impact by simply repairing, up-cycling or swapping your garment to keep it in the system and contribute to the circular economy. If your favouriteimprmpiece needs repairing and you can't do it yourself, please contact us
